@That's not an 8 minute explanation, because it relies on a 550 million year history. It doesn't explain original reproduction abilities and where that came from either.
What evolution theory seems to do, is paint how God generated life. Even Jesus, who Catholicism and it's bible clearly teach is the creator of the universe, even Jesus made statements like "This generation", or "in the regeneration". Life is in fact, a generated end product.
As physics teaches us, atoms are informational, and even the sub atomic particles consist of both enormous electromagnetic power (Which is why splitting atoms results in nuclear blasts), and a sequence or order of information.
The power and intelligence behind the development and behavior of atoms, ordered the sustained universe in which to accomodate life and the end product lifeforms in which to be generated.
Just like when we program our bits of information to create software capable of housing and sustaining a program on computer drives, we cannot possible suggest that those programs were trial and error. Well they were, but with intelligent minds doing the experimenting.
Now God, Jesus, could've generated life before time was actually set in motion, over eternal periods or eons, or God could've done it all in a matter of seconds, fast forward style. God is the creator of time, space and matter, so we couldn't possibly know for sure. Did we come through the same process as chimps? It's quite possible that God used certain "software" to create "similiarly structured" programs or species.
The whole idea about evolution requires a premise and rejection of the original sin and it's result, death. Because "natural" evolution requires death, and the Bible declares that death resulted in our rejection of eternal order.
Then again, God from outside of time would've known all our sinful choices, our rejection of order, then created time in which for our "disorderly conduct" to manifest itself and play out. Hence, disease, disorder, death. Perfect order rejected by free willed spirits on earth.
Whatever the scenario, you cannot ignore the distinctive end product eden species introduced to mankind just a few thousand years ago. They are magnificant, distinctively unique in structure, yet, very similiar or different so as to reveal a broad spectrum of diversity in God's abilities in creating.
I'm sorry. But all you have to do is go to the supermarket fruit and vegetable section and observe the wonderful and nutritious bounty that God provided man and animals to eat(note that in genesis, before sin, god said "behold, I give all vegetation for man and animals to eat as food" - then, after sin, in Genesis, God said you can eat of flesh, but not of the blood for it is life's blood).
So why the biblical reference to veggies before sin, and flesh after sin? Simple. Complex life was given the simple plant life as food, but after the highest lifeform given a spirit rejected a perfect order, it's fall, and the fall of all creatures under man was allowed to play out. God became hidden, gave a set of strict rules which man could never live by......so as to establish a need for "perfect atonement". Someone who can fulfill all laws, all requirements. God in the flesh. So the OT pointed to this coming of the Messiah, He came, introduced himself as the creator and saviour, and established a sacrificial means in which to cultivate souls who respond to the message of "order". Those who respond to divine moral essence, those who strive for holiness, Jesus atoned at the cross and will save.
There is no way that simple celled life could emerge, from a few hundred atoms, with the abilities to reproduce, adapt, survive, store data, hand data down to descendants in which to change according to environmental stresses. Also, you cannot possibly concieve that early lifeforms would eat other (whatever closely related protein cells were available at the time) relatives, mainly because it would go against the dependence on minerals which would've been instrumental in establishing their existence. It would be like us humans suddenly eating rocks for food. It doesn't work that way now, and it wouldn't back then.
Peace

@That's all well and good, but according to On the Origin of Species, evolution exists and is happening today. If that isn't proof enough for you, then don't bring up the Bible to prove God exists and created the universe.
